Japan is the second largest aid donor in the world. Over the past 30 years, it has provided over 200 billion USD to development as part of its official assistance program (ODA). However, the events earthquake and tsunami since March 11, 2011 reversed the situation for a while. Responding to the massive devastation Japan’s slow recovery is the work of many. With generous support from donors around the world, thousands of volunteers and experts have put their training and talent to meet the enormous needs in Japan.

The April issue of JAPAN and the WORLD magazine will focus on commemorating the March 11 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami and, specifically, the reaction of the world to this great tragedy.

In the features section of JAPAN and the WORLD magazine we will be looking at two areas that drive country’s economy: cocoa industry and tourism industry.
