Originating in 1984, the unisex casual wear store was started under the name “Unique Clothing Wear”, a brand to be registered as “Uni-clo” but following a misread of the letter “C” as a “Q”, the name was eventually established as the now renown Uniqlo.
By the year 1994, there were over 100 Uniqlo stores operating throughout Japan.
Japanese brand, Uniqlo, has teamed up with edgy British designer, JW Anderson, to offer consumers a unique opportunity to enjoy high fashion at affordable prices.
The collection combines Japanese functionality with British aesthetics. Within the collection tartan prints, trench coats and public school scarves are to be found. Traditional British details such as tartan and tweed are worn at the risk of looking like a country bumpkin, however, thanks to the principles of functionality and minimalism that are the hallmarks of the Uniqlo brand, the eccentricities of JW Anderson have been toned down for hip yet sophisticated tastes.
