The robot PEPPER was recently named as one of the 5 robots changing everything. This 28kgs humanoid robot made by Aldebaran and Softbank robotics was created with the intent to make people happy, facilitate relationships, have fun and connect with people to the outside world.
Till date, more than 140 Softbank Mobile stores in Japan use PEPPER and it is gaining popularity in other Asian countries like Taiwan.
Dr. Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu, Chief Engineer at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory said this lithium-ion battery run robot was among 4 others revolutionizing technology and the day-to-day lives of people in different regions of the world, including RoboSimian, a multiple-limb robot designed for rescue missions, the 3D printed robotic arm ADA, the Phoenix which is a powered exoskeleton and the Curiosity Mars Rover.
PEPPER is the first humanoid robot capable of recognizing the principal human emotions and adapting his behavior to the mood of his interlocutor.
