Osaka’s bid to host 2025 World Expo

The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan last month welcomed Mr. Ichiro Matsui, Governor of Osaka, who talked about the charms of the city, its future and its bid to host the World Expo 2025.


The 1970 Osaka expo, which was followed by the 1964 Olympic games, was a huge success and the government of Osaka is not only hoping for an even better outcome but plan to feature A.I, V.R, and other leading-edge technology. Mr. Masato Kitera, Ambassador of Japan to France, submitted a letter from Japanese Prime Minister, Mr. Shinzo Abe declaring the country’s bid to host the International Registered Exposition to the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions).

The big theme being “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” during which the hospitality and vibrant culture of the city would be showcased giving all its visitors an unforgettable experience. An estimated number of 28-30 million people are expected to be present and the construction costs for the venue is estimated at approximately 28-30million JPY.
