Japan is without a doubt, known for its high-tech and robotics and draws attention from visitors from all over the world with a record of foreign visitors being reached last year and estimated to be on the rise with the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic games.

H.I.S Co., a major Japanese travel agency opened up a hotel, showcasing the “omotenashi” side of Japan as well as its innovative side in terms of robotics. The hotel called “Hen na Hoteru” or “The Strange Hotel” features dinosaurs in the reception area as well as other robots throughout the hotel, providing a unique experience. The concept? Excitement meets comfort. Hideo Sawada, founder and chairman of H.I.S said during an interview “It is not about being strange, it’s about transforming and evolving.” Putting robots in the reception and in the hotel is in the hopes of making the hotel a very efficient one.

The company hopes to meet the high demand of families and foreigners visiting Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea, located in the same area and aim at launching 100 more both in Japan and overseas, within the next five years.
