New device may help alleviate global water shortage

It is estimated that by the year 2025, an estimated 1.8 billion people will be living in areas affected by water shortage and according to the UN; 783 million people do not have access to potable water.

Despite being surrounded by the ocean and believed to have high levels of precipitation, Japan is one of such countries, which has very low level of usable fresh water.

Although this has prompted the development of several products, the Bubble90 is the innovation that combats not only the issue of water shortage but also that of electricity saving. Manufactured by DG Takano Co., Ltd, the Bubble90 has been proven to reduce water consumption from 80% to 95% and as a result, several restaurant chains use this product.

It won the Super Monozukuri Innovative parts and Components Award in 2009.
