H.E. Mr. Alan Beraud
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Japan
Greetings to you all. My name is Alan Beraud, the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Japan. I have been a career diplomat since 1984 and arrived Tokyo last year in April. It is a great honor for me to represent my country in the wonderful and amazing Japan.
The months that have elapsed since my arrival to Japan have been very fruitful for the bilateral relations between both parties. Not only did both countries commemorate 130 years since the beginning of Japanese immigration to Argentina, this year, but also, as a reflection of a new Administration in Argentina, high level visits from my country to Japan and vice versa have reinvigorated the long-lasting ties between both countries and have lifted them to a stronger level. The corollary of this was the visit of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Argentina last November, and the launching of a strategic relationship.
Argentina has recently adopted a series of key political and economic policies offering a renovated business environment to investors in industry, agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, transport, oil, gas, renewable energy, mining and other sectors, and hence boosted foreign investment into the country. We sincerely hope Japanese investment would be counted among those more actively present in our country, as we recognize Japan as being a traditional investor of high quality and a reliable trade partner.
Argentina and Japan have always shared their passion for tango and now we have developed a new common link in sport, since the IOC voted to select the host city of the 2020 Olympics (Tokyo) in Buenos Aires.
Argentina, located in the southern cone of South America, has eight of the largest territories worldwide, is the second largest economy in the region and has magnificent tourist destinations like Iguazú Falls, Patagonia and Ushuaia.
I invite you all to visit Argentina and to delight yourselves with the best of Argentine beef and Malbec wine, its culture, arts and sports. Contact us, we are always ready for you.
