Transit—Communicating culture in Japan


Transit General Office Inc. is a Japan-based branding and creative design company poised in creating dynamic and artful spaces that “communicate the culture” and theme in which a building is set. The company boasts a staff of 1,456 and has a capital worth of 30 million yen with a sales revenue at 5.3 billion yen.

Founded by Sadahiro Nakamura in 2001, Transit has become a company synonymous with artful and stylish “leisure facilities” with the most notable being the “iconic” cafe named Sign. The establishment of Sign paved the way for the continued success of Transit in the cafe business, resulting in the successful establishment of over 60 cafes and restaurants.

Nakamura went on to further establish a diverse number of companies, the major companies being Transit Crew and Real Gate. Each company provides a service necessary to assist companies with the establishment and operation of their businesses. The Transit Crew company assists in catering and events, and Real Gate specializes in real estate consulting. In addition, the Transit Chocolate Supply Inc. and TS Partners Inc. companies, were established to manage the Max Brenner Chocolate Bar in Japan.

Furthermore, Transit has partnered with multiple companies to create and operate a variety of businesses. Transit, in a joint venture with Sunny Side Up Inc., created the group Flypan Inc, to regulate the operations of the bills restaurants chain. Aside from partnerships, the company has licensed the brand Guzman Y Gomez, which offers an authentic Mexican taste through Burritos, Tacos, and Quesadillas in several varieties. Their other licensed brands are the Taiwanese brand, Ice Monster, for shaved ice, and the New York based Dominique Ansel Bakery, which has won several prizes for its French and New York style desserts.

In addition, Transit works to help with the branding of companies, thus becoming a comprehensively well-rounded company that has the ability to establish a company from start to finish.
Transit continues its path towards continued success with constant growth and future plans for more restaurants. In April, THE APOLLO in Japan, a modern Greek restaurant opened in Ginza.
Transit and its multitude of talents continues to being an acknowledged and prosperous Jack of All Trades for business operations, both in Japan and internationally.
